Laptop Checkout
Checkout Policy
BORROWERS

A laptop borrower must be at least 18 years of age.

A laptop borrower must be a Webster Parish Libraries non-probationary resident cardholder with a record that is in good standing. (i.e. no overdue books, no outstanding fines).

A laptop borrowers must have a cardholder record in good standing (i.e., no overdue books, no outstanding fines).

A laptop borrower must agree to the terms of checkout by signing a Laptop Checkout Agreement.

A laptop borrower must present a library card and a valid state-issued driver’s license or identification card at the time of checkout.
CHECKOUT INFORMATION

Each borrower may only checkout one laptop per household at a time.

Laptops will be checked out for a period of seven days.

Laptops may be renewed in-person or by phone for an additional seven days if there is no wait list.

Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laptops must be returned to the library that they were checked out from on the due date at least 30 minutes before closing.

Laptops shall not be put in the book drop or overnight drop box. They must be returned to a staff member who will check to make sure all items are returned intact.

Laptop borrowers must remain during check-in process and obtain a check-in receipt. (approximately 5 minutes)
USAGE INFORMATION

Laptop borrowers bear the responsibility for damage to the laptop due to neglect, abuse, loss, or physical damage.

Laptop borrowers wishing to save files that they have created must save them to a disk, USB drive, etc. Any documents or software installations saved on the laptop will be lost when the laptop is shutdown.

Laptops may not be used for any illegal purposes.

Laptop borrowers must provide their own accessories (e.g., mouse, headphones, disk, and/or USB drive.)

Laptops can connect to the internet utilizing wireless access points at home or anywhere free or paid wireless access is available.

Laptop borrowers may not alter, delete, or copy any software loaded on the laptop, or otherwise change its existing software or hardware configuration.
OVERDUE, LOST AND DAMAGED FEES

If laptops are lost, intentionally damaged, or stolen, borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost of the laptop and accessories plus any accrued overdue fines.

If laptops are not returned on time, a fine of $5 per day will be assessed.
If a laptop is not returned on time, it will be declared stolen and the borrower may face criminal charges.
